1/26/25 Choosing God’s Way Over My Own: A New Beginning
Preacher: Bro. Gerald Wilkerson
- God invites us into a fresh start, where honesty with Him transforms us into new creations, guiding us away from self deception into a life of purpose and renewal
- Sometimes our intelligence gets in the way of common sense
- Human wisdom and self-reliance equals the illusion of control
- Wherever we are in our vertical relationship with God, that’s what others around us get. If we are at 50% in our relationship with God, that’s what others receive
- Psalms 139:23-24
- Honesty with God: The key to a new beginning
- We have an accuser who attacks us day and night
- The only thing that strengthens the spirit is the word of God
- What is it that we are hiding from God or areas that we are resisting his truth?
- The call of Abram: A step of faith and surrender (Genesis 12:1-4)
- Abraham: Trusting God’s way in the hardest test (Genesis 22:1-18)
- Obedience leads to a better relationship with God
- Can you carry this out for the benefits of others? This is not about you.
- Pharaoh: The destruction of a hardened heart (Exodus 7:1-12)
- God is patient but there are consequences for resisting his will
- Achan: Hidden sin and its ripple effects (Joshua 7:1-26)
- It’s no big deal, no one will know, however hidden sins will cause consequences to you and others. It effects more people that we realize. We must be honest and repent.
- The joy of Spirit-led New beginning
- Cross road of decision. The call, the test, condition of the hear, sin of disobedience. Are you like Abram – called to trust of a new beginning
- New self honesty requires us to do a self check
